Introduction to Mpumalanga and Kruger Park:
Stretching over 2 million hectares, the Kruger National Park is 360km long from North to South. In the South: the Crocodile river and its lush plains. In the North: the sandy banks of the Limpopo river. Between the two, 4 other rivers: Shingwedzi, Letaba, Olifants, Sabie, which attract and ensure the survival of numerous herds of mammals and their predators. Choose your accommodation amongst the National Camps within the Park (Skukuza, Lower Sabie, Satara and many others), or on a Private concession in a Luxury Lodge or more, along the Park’s borders in a Private Game reserve or a guest-house. Whether by car, bus or 4x4, you will encounter big and small wildlife during a day of Safari in the African Bush.
Within the Province of Mpumalanga (meaning ‘where the sun rises’), 3h drive from Johannesburg and 1h from the Kruger Gate lies the ‘Panoramic Route’ , not to be missed during a stay in the Kruger Park! Trout fishing in Dullstrrom, tasting ‘Biltong’ (dried and spicy meat, an Afrikaans classic) in Graskop, Waterfalls, Canyons and immense Forests make the region so attractive: the extraordinary views of the Blyde River Canyon (3rd largest canyon in the world over 26km and the only ‘green’ one) from the ‘God's Window’, the giants potholes digged by a furious waterstream in the rocks, the visit of the historic gold-seekers town of ‘Pligrim’s Rest’ are the classics of the Route.
Complementing the Kruger Park, enjoy the wildlife of the Hoedspruit area within a private game reserve, where you could experience one of the conservation programmes of the fauna. The population is 3 million, and the languages spoken are Swati (30%), Zulu (25%) and Ndebele (13%)
